Day 2

I woke up this morning and did a 20k bike ride. I love to bike and this is an activity I need to get back to. It was windy which made me debate the ride – I need to just get things done so jumped on the bike and did my route. It took me an hour and 1 min – last year I could do that route in 54 mins so that’s the target by the end of the summer.

A few things I have read that I plan on using:

  • Success is a process, not an outcome. I tend to be all or nothing and if I don’t see what I expect to see in terms of weight loss then I tend to give in. I need to focus on the process – what works, what doesn’t, make tweaks – and enjoy the process of finding success. Which is why the 52 weeks.
  • Motivation rarely precedes action. Action encourages action. Just do it by creating some momentum in the morning. I want to get into a regular morning routine that starts my day off in the right direction
  • Life is about making choices and choosing one uncomfortable outcome over another – I tend to focus on the yes or no choice of say working out without considering the choice of not working out – ie I am therefore choosing to continue to drift away from my goals, keep the weight on etc
  • I am in control of my decisions

I also need to focus on reducing alcohol. Empty calories that both stops any weight loss as well as makes it possible to give up on a morning routine. I was close to a non alcohol night last night but gave in at 9:30. Need to make that change

Today is about meal planning – investigating some go-to healthy easy to plan meals and some healthy snacks.

Day 2 of 365 – am hoping this daily blog keeps me focused just on what I need to do today.
